The Seychelles are a unique destination, with no indigenous population. The culture is a vibrant mix of African, European (mainly French), and Asian influences, shaped by centuries of migration, colonization, and trade. The result is a laid-back, welcoming way of life centered on community, family, music, food, and nature. French Creole shapes much of the cuisine and remains strong in local media, especially among the older generation, while English is the official language.
The sandy beaches are often hailed as the most beautiful in the world.
Drop anchor to explore colorful reefs teeming with fish and turtles, then head ashore into lush, hilly forests to encounter unique wildlife.
Your Seychelles yacht charter begins in St Anne, Praslin, where you can enjoy a light lunch before setting sail to Curieuse. This small granitic island is characterised by its bare red earth and is home to the magnificent Coco de Mer palm. The whole of the island is designated as a national park and there is a conservation station for breeding the Aldabra Giant Tortoise, more than 300 of which inhabit the island.
With its waters protected by a coral reef barrier, the island of Grande Souer is a haven for sea turtles and a myriad of brightly coloured fish. It's a wonderful location for diving and the white sand beach at Anse Marie-Louise, which is enclosed by giant granite boulders, provides a great location for fishing. The next morning dive at Grand Soeur’s pinnacle or visit Cocos Island for more outstanding and beautiful snorkeling.
On the third day of your Seychelles yacht charter, sail to La Digue, the fourth-largest island in Seychelles. La Digue preserves a traditional Seychellois way of life and ox-carts and bicycles are the traditional mode of transport. Diving is outstanding off the boulder formations, and the snorkeling is fantastic in the calm, sheltered, warm waters.
Cruise to Praslin, the second largest island of the Seychelles. A hike through the Vallee de Mai, one of the world’s smallest natural heritage sites, is highly recommended and one can again experience the unique Coco de Mer and vanilla orchids. In its limited area, the richness and variety of plant and animal life is astounding.
Cousin Island is a nature reserve where you can find the Seychelles warbler, magpie, robin, sooty turns, turtle doves and many more beautiful birds. There are also interesting reptiles, geckos and giant tortoises. There are many great dive sites around the boulders as well as snorkeling in the shallow waters.
Cruise to Aride Island the northernmost granitic island of the Seychelles and the site of more outstanding bird watching. The whole of Aride is designated as a nature reserve and the only people living on the island are the four park rangers and two wardens. Fishing is also superb in this area, from deep sea to bone fishing.
For the last night of your Seychelles yacht charter, enjoy a final visit to Praslin before your return flight back home in the morning.
